I’ve reached the pinnacle of my career – I made the TU Alumni Magazine! And this time, I’m in a story, and not just a clothing ad! Check it out at http://www.utulsa.edu/alumni/magazine/pdf/TUmgSp06.pdf . My mom says that I’m somewhere in pages 26-29. I think it’s just excerpts from my online journal, so if you’re reading this, you’ve probably already read what’s in the article, but you should look at it anyways.

Also, I just found out that the elementary school that I ran a mentoring program at while I was at TU finally made it off the Official List of Very Bad Schools in Oklahoma! I’m really proud of the teachers and students there. There was a front-page article about it in the Tulsa World on Monday that you can look for if you're interested.

In other news, my friend Suzanne got bit by a baboon in Guinea-Bissau while she was on vacation. Hahahahaha!

I’m the only Peace Corps volunteer in my region for like two weeks. No other white folk for a couple hundred miles, except for the occasional tourist who gets lost and ends up here on accident, but I hate those people, so they don’t count.

The weather is beautiful. I was down south in Boghe for the weekend, and it is already hot there, so once again, I am thankful that I live in the Fabulous Tagant, where it is still relatively cool.

A mouse ate four holes in my pool while I had it put away during the cold season. Why would a mouse eat plastic when I have a kitchen full of candy, beans, rice, salsa, pickles, and other yummy things that mice should like? I don’t know. But I will question each of their lifeless bodies before I throw them into my compost pit as I single-handedly exterminate the vermin from my house one by one over the next two weeks.
